January 3, 2008 - 1John 2: 29-3:6; Psalm 98:1, 3cd-4, 5-6; John 1: 29-34

The mystery of Christ’s incarnation, passion, death and resurrection is a restoration of the human person to Jesus Christ. It is through this mystery which expresses the infinite love of God for us human beings that we truly become God’s children. After the fall of our first parents, the human person became indebted to God in ways that he could not repay. The debt was paid by Jesus Christ. Not only that he paid our debt, he adopted us and made us his children. We are adopted by virtue of our baptism. As adopted children, we are guaranteed a new life and we have all the rights and privileges of children. Our adoption is not because of any thing we have done for God, but it is the generous love of the Father. The only responsibility we have to enjoy this spirit of adoption is to believe in Jesus Christ. John 1: 12 tells us that all those that believe, he has given them the power to be called sons and daughters of God.
As sons and daughters of God, we belong to a family of the sanctified and sin should not be part of our lives. We must get rid of all sin from our lives so that we can live fully our vocation as God’s children.
What are the things that hold you from living out fully your Christian vocation?

My response:
