John 4: 43-54, (Monday, March 3, 2008)
The royal official in the gospel of today is not a man who goes around looking for signs and miracles, he is a man that has a genuine faith in Jesus. He believed in Jesus’ power to heal his son. When Jesus says to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe,” his response to Jesus truly shows the depth of his faith. He says, “Sir, come down, before my child dies.” He knows that Jesus Christ has the power to save the life of the child. When Jesus Christ sends him back to go and his son will leave, even though Jesus Christ did not go physically with him, he believed.
This is the kind of faith that Jesus Christ demands of us his followers. He wants us to lay everything we are going through to him. We need to bring our troubles to him with confidence, knowing that he will help us. One of the problems we always face is that even when we ask Jesus to help us, we don’t really believe that he can help us in our situation. If Jesus cannot do it, no other person would be able to. Trust fully in him.
Do you sincerely believe that Jesus Christ can lift you up from your troubles?
